Share
According to Net Applications, a service that tracks
browser usage from web sites all over the world, Firefox
world wide market share has topped 20% for the first time during October.
Firefox usage varies quite a bit depending on the country. For example, Xiti
Monitor, which tracks usage numbers in Europe, indicated in a recent
report that Firefox has a 30% market share on the European continent.
However, the Net Applications report is the first time that Firefox has shown
more than 20% usage across the entire globe. For more information, see the Mozilla
Metrics blog.
Add-ons for Fennec
Fennec, the code name
for the Firefox mobile browser, has its first add-on. Chris Finke has added
Fennec compatibility to his URL Fixer add-on.
Madhava Enros has screenshots of the add-on running on Fennec in a post in his
weblog.
Mark Finkle also writes that add-ons.mozilla.org has added support for Fennec. This means you can search for add-ons from inside of Fennec and that add-on authors can include compatibility for Fennec when they are uploading and updating add-ons.

Ehsan
Akhgari has written a post that gives a walk through of one of Firefox 3.1’s new
features: private browsing. Private browsing allows you to turn off Firefox’s
recording of history and cookie information as you browse the web. This feature
will be included for the first time in Firefox 3.1 Beta 2. See
his post for more information and screenshots of the feature.
